A pleasure to have a poem included in Swansea based Black Bough Poetry 'Christmas & Winter Anthology: Volume 6'. This now annual tradition is once again accompanied by Emma Bissonnet beautiful lino-prints.

I wrote this poem after a visit to the Newport Medieval Ship museum and learning that oak trees were planted generations in advance with a view to provide for ship building as well as domestic needs. Trees were 'trained' into specific forms for specific uses.
